Edumond Gosse wrote an anonymous portrait of Queen Victoria shortly after her death in the April, 1901 issue of the "Quarterly Review." The article became notorious because it was somewhat critical of the Queen. It was based on notes and conversations with Mary Ponsonby. Several letters in the Symington Collection reveal the extent of their communications.Downloads
